Sneak Preview: Missoni + Target, Coming Soon
Target made waves in 2000 when it injected Main Street USA with a shot of Manhattan via its exclusive Todd Oldham home collection, marking its first design collaboration with a name known more for couture than cozy throw pillows for $29 and under. Three years later, it upped the ante with its Isaac Mizrahi for Target clothing collection, and in the years since, the megachain has partnered with the likes of Jean-Paul Gaultier, Stella McCartney, Cynthia Rowley and even the late Alexander McQueen, the designer responsible for Kate Middleton?s wedding gown. But the most hotly anticipated partnership to date officially launches in autumn 2011 when Italian tastemakers Missoni bring their vast line of fashion and décor to the masses vis-à-vis Target stores across the U.S. Aside from its clothing, the design house has offered photographic previews of its trademark zigzag emblazoned on everything from bicycles, umbrellas and laptop cases to pillows, kitchenware and patio furniture. The line debuts September 13.
